Brothers War
In case you may not have heard of it, there is a movie coming out called Brothers War. It is about a British and German soldier that meet toward the end of WW1 and find out they are both masons. It looks really good, here is the website
That does look really good, can't wait to see it... and blog it lol It's actually WWII and not WW1. Here is the details from the site
Based on real events, the setting for Brother's War is the Eastern Front during the final days of World War II. In the midst of fierce fighting, as the Western Allies and the Russian Red Army make their advance toward Berlin, a British Army Officer attached to the Red Army discovers a secret that can shatter the unity of the Allies.
Seized by Stalin's dreaded Intelligence Service, he finds unexpected help from an enemy and fellow prisoner, a German Captain. A common bond through Freemasonry binds the two Officers by honor, oath and secrets. Joined by Anna, a beautiful Polish nurse cast adrift in the tides of war, the three are pursued by a ruthless Russian Intelligence Officer intent on preventing them from reaching Allied Command with their secret which could change the course of the war and the fate of millions.
There is surprisingly little information about this movie out there. Trying to google it only finds the official website and a lot of unrelated sites... It would be nice to find a release date.
After a lot of digging I have turned up a more recent press release on the movie. It has been picked up for international release
Artist View Entertainment Picks Up WWII Epic "Brothers War" for International Markets
Top sales company Artist View Entertainment and CEO Scott Jones will highlight Brothers War in its international film market line-up.
Los Angeles, CA, October 31, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Actor/Producer Tino Struckmann has inked a deal with Artist View Entertainment to sell the international rights to his film Brothers War and it will be the company’s premiere attraction at AFM. Directed by award winning director Jerry Buteyn, Brothers War is an action thriller starring Struckmann, European action star Olivier Gruner, American horror icon Michael Berryman and beautiful Hayley Carr. Struckmann and Warren Lewis (Black Rain, The 13th Warrior) collaborated on the screenplay. Christopher Ward (Pearl Harbor, Speed, The Lion King) composed the film’s score.
Set against the backdrop of the closing days of WWII, the film tells the story of two officers, one German, one British -- foes, who find common ground in Freemasonry and join forces to save Europe from a new war. Struckmann, who found his way to acting and filmmaking via a circuitous route in the military, paid strict attention to historic accuracy and military detail in the production. The gripping film accurately portrays the horrors and heroism of desperate battles at the end of the war and also gives the viewer insights into the true secrets of the ancient order of the freemasons, bound by honor, oath and secrets
Tino Struckmann has appeared in several films and TV shows, also known as the former bodyguard to the stars and as the well-known author of the book Stalked, and is now the CEO of Almighty Dog productions.
This winter, Struckmann will go into production on Grave Goods a thriller written and directed by Warren Lewis. Grave Goods, best described as Helter Skelter meets No Country For Old Men, is a chilling tale in which the re-opening of the investigation of brutal ritual murders of the recent past leads to the revelation of secrets that should have remained buried.
Along with the talented cast and crew who banked on the potential success of Brothers War, Scott Jones, president of Artist View Entertainment, is another believer. “Artist View is very pleased to add Brothers War to our Fall 2008 line-up. The film has real potential in the worldwide market boosting great writing, solid acting and a first class, high quality sound track. The EFX are exception and I can honestly say it is one of the best independent films I have seen this year.”

For the sake of those that may find this thread through a search engine Ill link to a members blog post
I'm really looking forward to this. I love the premise. Hope it comes to DVD soon. Would be a nice addition to ye olde shelf.
lol it certainly will be.
There is finally a release date!
Has anyone seen this yet?
Surprisingly not... I completely forgot about it!
The reviews I have found are horrible...but I like to form my own opinion. I can't find this movie for rent anywhere so I'm currently downloading it.
My nephew the actor would lecture me but if I could, I would rent it. Since I can't, I'm downloading it.
I had the chance to see this film, and it is not that bad (no Oscer performance, but enjoyable); very light hearted with focus more on the characters than the war itself. Alot could be nit-picked about the production, but I will not get into those (`cause I could write a book on them, and if/when you see the film you may understand).
Overall, I would call this a "Feel Good WWII movie where enemies learn to work together for the greater good". The masonic ties to this movie could have been easily left out and the result would have been pretty much the same [aside from adding a scene or two to build the bond]. Though, the way that masonry was portrayed was very positive with a little [i.e. very little] note about the Nazi treatment of masons. Which in contrary to the current media view on masonry as typically negative/evil/controlling/etc. What a breath of fresh air . . .
If you have some extra time and find this at the local video store, I would say go for it. Even non-masons should enjoy it.
And how can you not enjoy a film that has Michael Berryman in it? [you'll know him when you see him ]
